WebSub lets subscribers be notified the instant you publish, instead of waiting for their next poll. This checks whether your feed advertises a hub, whether it declares the self link a subscription needs, and whether the hub is actually alive.

The hub is probed, never subscribed to — no third-party service is enlisted in traffic nobody asked for.
